Terms of service

The rules for using Compass. By using Compass you accept them. Last updated October 1, 2026.

1. Acceptance

These Terms govern your use of Compass (the "Service"), operated by Charles Bébin, a private individual acting in a non-professional capacity under the name BebinC ("we", "us"). By creating a BebinC account or using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 16 years old, can enter into these Terms, and accept them together with the Privacy policy and the Financial disclaimer. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service

Compass is an equity research and valuation tool: market data, financial statements from filings, valuation models (DCF, scenarios, comparables), earnings and macro calendars, prediction market context, AI summaries of filings, alerts, a paper portfolio and private research notes that you can choose to share.

Data comes from third-party providers listed in the Financial disclaimer. We do not guarantee its availability, accuracy or completeness, and features may change as providers change their services.

The Service is free of charge and no subscription is planned. It is run by an individual in a personal capacity.

3. No financial advice

Everything in the Service is for information and education. It is not investment, financial, tax or legal advice, and we are not a registered investment adviser, broker-dealer or financial planner. The paper portfolio is a simulation: no real money or securities are involved. Consult a qualified professional before making investment decisions.

4. Your account

One BebinC account gives access to Compass and the other BebinC products. Sign-in is provided by Clerk. You agree to:

  • Give accurate information and keep it up to date.
  • Keep your sign-in methods (password, passkeys, connected Google or Apple account) secure, and accept responsibility for activity under your account.
  • Tell us at contact@bebinc.com if you suspect unauthorised access.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these Terms or are used for fraud, abuse or illegal activity.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Scrape or systematically extract data from the Service or the providers behind it.
  • Get around rate limits, authentication or any other access control.
  • Use the Service to build a product that redistributes the same data.
  • Reverse engineer, probe, scan or test the security of the Service without permission.
  • Use the Service in breach of any law, including securities laws, or to publish misleading shared notes intended to manipulate a market.
  • Share your account or let several people use it.

6. Intellectual property and your content

The Service (design, code, brand and original content, excluding third-party data) belongs to the operator. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease it without written permission.

You own the notes, models, screens and other content you create ("your content"). You grant us a limited licence to store, process and display it only to provide the Service to you, and to show a note publicly while you keep its public link on. You can export your content at any time (Settings, Data).

7. Third-party services

The Service relies on third parties for data, sign-in, hosting, email and AI. Their data is also subject to their own terms. Links to other sites are for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement or uninterrupted availability. We do not warrant that the Service is error-free or that data is accurate or timely.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or 50 US dollars. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits; there, liability is limited as far as the law allows.

10. Indemnification

To the extent the law allows, you agree to indemnify the operator against claims, damages, losses and costs (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms or your infringement of anyone else's rights, including through notes you share.

11. Ending your use

You can delete your account at any time from Settings, Data in Compass or from your BebinC account. Deletion takes effect after a 30-day grace period during which you can cancel it; your data is then erased. We may suspend or end your access immediately if you break these Terms. Sections 3, 6, 8, 9, 10 and 12 survive termination.

12. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by French law. Before any formal step, contact contact@bebinc.com so we can try to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days. Nothing in these Terms affects the mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live, including, for consumers in the EU, the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.

13. Changes

We may change these Terms. Material changes are announced by updating the date above and, where appropriate, by email or a notice in the Service. Using the Service after a change means you accept the new Terms. We may also change or stop the Service; where we can, we warn you in the Service or by email first, so that you can export your content.

14. Contact
